Had the tractor out mowing some weeds along the woods today and spotted a very little fawn along the old fence. He got up and wobbled of into the woods.
About 40 feet further and there laid it's sibling, only this one got it's head in the old hog netting and couldn't get through. I shut everything down and got off and picked the little guy up and set him over. He only bleated once. Couldn't have weighed 5 pounds.
Didn't see or hear momma but I'm sure she was close.

 Good Job.

Awesome! You may have same the next world record.

It makes you feel great when you can help a helpless animal.

Awesome good job

I did the same thing about two years ago. Heard the little dude bleating and went and found it caught in hog wire. Had to cut the wire to get its little leg free. The doe stood about 20 yards away and watched the whole thing. Neat experience!

Excuse my ignorance, but what is "hog netting" and "hog wire" ?

I've seen so many hunters who will drop everything and do anything to save an animal.
To many people think hunters just kill animals. Yet the majority of hunters love the animals they hunt. They share a deep bond with the land and all living things. We hunters understand the original cycle of life. Keep up the good work.

Hog wire as we call it is a woven type wire fencing material about 4''x4'' and 4' high

My buddy showed me a video of a deer rescue he did with his hunting party. During a rifle season deer drive a doe got hung up in a V shaped tree. They stopped the hunt and freed the deer.
Pretty cool when us
"blood thirsty hunters" tend to the weak and incapacitated.

Bruce, here are a couple of pictures of a fawn that I released from a fence last fall...

The fence is 36" high hog wire topped with two strands of barbed. The release was successful.

I love reading this stuff. It will never make mainstream media news, but WE KNOW, the truth...Nice to have a place to share such things...
Kudos to those who have...I sense most of us "would" but being in the right place at that right time is not so common...
A friend found a very warm cow that got it's head caught in barbed wire and sliced it's juglar and had just bled out... hunter contacted the farmer who said, "You want it, you take it, I don't want the XXXXX thing!"
So his deer hunt resulted in a large cache of fine beef! Timing is everything...

Cool maybe in a few years you'll get a chance to shishkabob it!

I found one trying to hide in a clover field once. I walked up and took a picture from about 5 feet away. When the camera clicked she let out a bleat and took off to find mom - a very cool experience.
