Anyone else on here ever have our great postal service misplace a bow. Scanned into the post office on 10/7/17 and went to sorting facility. It has not been scanned anywhere since then. Estimated deliver was the 13th, so been 2 weeks past that. All I can get out of them is it may still be in transit. Hoping to get it here before an Oklahoma hunt I went on this weekend...Thanks"
-
Same thing here:
Looks like my wife's new stand has disappeared at the Memphis sorting facility. You would think the mail handlers would be able to afford their own hunting equipment.
Your bow could still show up, Good luck.

I had one that was going back and forth across the country. Instead of priority 3 day it was 'priority two weeks'. They finally got it to me.
-
Try filing a claim, that's usually when they seem to find my stuff.
-
I don't think you can file a claim until the item is missing for 30 days. I have had them lose a Priority Mail items for several weeks.
-
I know what you are saying. I got a bow off the classifieds and it took my check a week and a half to get there. We already had plans to do something else but it finally showed up.If it were any other business it would go under.

I watched one come from Oklahoma to Des Moines then bounce from Des Moines to Minneapolis to Manly (where I live) to St. Paul to Des Moines and finally to Manly. The bar code got scuffed up somewhere along the line. Finally some enterprising soul must have realized he/she had seen it before and routed it back to Manly. The local P.O. could not explain why they sent it on to St. Paul. My name and address were clear as day, but the bar code apparently fooled them. Ain't technology wonderful? I think it's one of the reasons I prefer traditional bows...he types on his laptop computer... :knothead:

The sender (guy that put the insurance on it) must file the claim. Can't do it for 30 days. Out of many hundreds if not thousands I've had one get broken but none lost through USPS.
-
I had a part for our CNC go via UPS from Michigan to Dallas to Ft. Worth to New Jersey to Dallas to Ft. Worth and finally delivered. Instead of 2-3 days it was 10.

Ten four he is aware and is waiting the 30 days. Just hoping it will finally get here and was wondering if others had experiences like this. Nice to know you have never had one lost and hoping this one is not...Thanks everyone!

Had a Postal Money order from Michigan to Wisconsin take 25 days Priority Mail. The bad thing was the guy shipped the bow on the day I sent the Money Order and I had it three days later. Used them all, Fed Ex, UPS and Priority Mail. They all have their issues but IMHO Priority Mail is still the best way to get something from point A to point B.

Of all the stuff I have sold and ordered, I've never had the USPS screw up. I've had a couple things arrive with damage, BUT that was because of crappy packing by the shipper.
Overall, I bet 99.9% of the items arrive timely and without damage...and I am not an employee of the post office or even know anyone who is.
-
Something to consider when you address a package in case the label gets torn, scuffed or that area is damaged where the label is placed is to always write your address and place to send on a piece of paper and place inside the package as well..If it is messed up beyond reading on the outside they may look inside to see if a note was left.Just tape or place a note inside where to ship to if lost or label damaged..
Just something I have done on a few and may help someone if that does happen..
-
I have had a couple of items been late from the post office.I bought a bow from a member here and sent the money order in a Priority envelope.I tracked it and it was stuck at a sorting facility for close to two weeks. It finally was delivered but the member said the envelope looked like it had been torn up and taped back together. But he finally received it,but took about 17 days.
-
Something as simple as 2 numbers switched in a zip code, can delay a package for days or even weeks.

2X on this post.... UPS on the other hand has screwed me up a time or two.

I haven't lost anything I shipped USPS, but I have noticed that it makes a difference which direction you send something. From Iowa to the east coast = about 3 days. From the east coast to Iowa = 6 to 8 days. Not sure why this is, but it's happened to me often enough to see a pattern. Must be because it's uphill from there :saywhat: .

I'm leery of sending anything fragile or valuable via USPS. I shipped a bow to my brother-in-law. He worked from home to be sure to be there when it was delivered. No delivery. USPS says they delivered it to my brother-in-law's address and refused to pay the insurance.
-
in 8 years we have had 2 bows misplaced but every bow we have shipped has arrived and safe yours should turn up soon
-
Its getting bad for sure.Bought some Ribteks from Biathlonman in Kentucky and bought a bow from davycrockett both sent Priorty Mail same day.Took the broadheads 3 days from Kentucky to Tx and took the bow 4 days to go 70 miles.I sent Bigjim some bow limbs Priority Mail from Tx to Georgia, took 15 days.He sent them back same way only took 4 days. :dunno:
-
Recently in Texas the Beaumont USPS office closed down and all of the SE TX mail now goes thru Houston. Based on my understanding, this has caused numerous delays and lost items. I recently had an issue myself with a Money Order being lost in the mail and it has Ben 5 weeks. USPS will not pay a claim for 60 days.
-
I ship thousands of packages a year through usps. They lose about 3 or 4 packages a year, which is not bad at all when you think about it. Maybe a dozen or so a year take longer to get where they're going than they should. All things considered, they have the best service at the best rates and I will keep using them.
-
I hope you get it soon.
-
I ordered some "buck fever" and asked for it to be rushed. They mailed it 'express 3day'. I got it 17days.. which was 5days after I got home from my hunting trip.
It was a $9 item not new BOW! Yikes...
-
I process all the non PayPal payments for the Trad Gang St. Jude's Auction every year, I have had Priority Mail payments arrive four months after the post mark on the envelope. Another time I sent a Postal Money Order Priority Mail for an item I purchased here, off the classifieds, half of it came back to me two weeks later and the seller received the other half of the money order a couple of days later.
-
OH SNAP!!! Good luck, I hope she shows up.
-
Too many instances to list them all.....
* Had a check sent to me on Feb 11 one year, it arrived July 11th (with the 2/11 postmark).
* Had a package take 2 weeks traveling 1 mile to the next post office over from mine.
* Currently have 3 packages I mailed from Columbus Ohio on 10/18/15 to NY, PA and CA....they are all listed as being stuck in Cincinnati Ohio right now. How they got to Cinci is anyone's guess.
That said, I've shipped and/or received thousands of packages over the past 20 years and the amount of issues have been relatively small.
For comparison, I had a bow shipped to me from CA last Thursday, it was on my porch yesterday when I got home.
-
Thanks for the info...still no bow...seven more days and sender can file a claim...maybe if it is costing them money they can find it!
-
Well seller just contacted me and the bow has been declared lost...he is filing the claim and refunding my money. Thanks to all and if you ship anything USPS insure it because they can not ensure its arrival>>>------<>
-
I'll just say I feel for you. Its hard for me to deal with the post office
-
usps lost my broadheads on order from 3 rivers enroute india (somewhat credible given the country change). contacted 3 rivers and they did right by me !
-
FYI to everyone following this thread, the PO has declared the bow "lost". I have to now follow the claim procedure as I was the sender. First time I've had it happen with USPS. I hope it's the last.
-
Just fyi kbetts is a great seller...he has kept me updated throughout and answered my emails...Thanks for your hard work kbetts!
-
I've got issues with some arrows that were shipped two weeks ago. Scanned when departed the original place of shipment.Nothing scanned in nine days. Not my first bad experience with usps. They do get it right most of the time but a bummer when things get lost in space.
Good luck guys
-
Well a lost bow, arrows and broadheads per this thread...all they need is a quiver...lol!
-
Lol... I still haven't heard if the ground turkey feathers I sent to Michigan the same day made it.....
-
Maybe you can Google the sorting facility where you saw it last and find the phone number. Call them with the tracking number. Maybe? rat'
-
For years I had no trouble. Then, within the last couple of months I've had several get lost. One of them made it all the way from Kansas City to Detroit (Allen Park) sorting facility and then spent 5 days with no update. The shipper called the Allen Park sorting facility and I got it the next day. I would definitely call the last scanned facility.
-
Appears all activity was at the original post office. Only tracking info is it was accepted and then left there to a sorting facility. No other tracking info available. Hoping they may look a little harder when they are faced with paying a claim >>>-----<>

Still no bow!
-
Once sent a priority USPS package with lots of insurance to AK and it took over a month, but it finally showed up!
-
I've had no problems with things "missing" but this arrived last week:

And a bow I had swapped with a guy in Sweetwater Texas was basically "hummed" over my locked garden gate and was 10 feet inside of it. I had left instructions with my local Post Office to leave it at the PO and I'd pick it up there. Well, got a text alert that it had been delivered to my "porch/front door". Strange thing is, they would not have access to my "front door" since there's a locked gate you have to open to get inside my property. Skid marks on the bottom of the box indicated that the box had slid along my walkway. I don't think the postman scaled my gate and set it where it was laying. SO, anyways, after I realized that it had been left at my residence I had to haul a$$ home to get it because it was about to pour down rain. Yep. Going to choose another shipping method next time I ship or have a bow shipped to me even if it costs a bit more. Luckily THAT bow wasn't damaged at all.

Well you can say what you want about USPS, but you are going to be hard pressed getting better service for your shipping cost anywhere. If you send your packages priority / Insured , they stand behind it.
Try getting an ins claim filed through UPS sometime and you'll figure it out real quick.... Fed ex is a joke as far as getting ins coverage goes.
I think if i found a package thrown over a fence like the one described above, i'd track down that mail carrier and have a serious talk about delivery ethics. THEN go to his boss..... with photos....

With all things it comes down to an individual doing his/her job or not doing her/her job. I mailed a $22000 guitar to get a fret job from the local post office. It was given rides in the cabs of trucks and vehicles all the way to the luthier and delivered by the Minneapolis postman by hand on his own time because he did not want to be responsible for it until the next Monday. Locally I have had archery stuff delivered to a house one block from me, same house number, many times. It is all about who is on duty at the time. Repeated complaints by myself and Devoss make no difference. In a small town where everyone knows each other, one would think that this would not happen.
-
"It is all about who is on duty at the time. "
You got that right Pavan.... i had the coolest carrier for years that used to bring my packages back to the shop for me... then they got a new carrier and she refused to get out of her rig....She'd pull in the drive way and start blowing her horn, and expected you to come outside to her truck to sign for a package.... If you didn't hear her, she'd leave a slip and i had to go to the PO to pick it up..... Pain in the arse! I finally got that fixed, and got her trained.... then they change carriers again. :banghead: :banghead:

USPS just got my bow from Oregon to NC in about 3 days. Thanks Kirk ;)

...still haven't gone over the footage on my security camera, but plan on looking over it tonight....

I use USPS for all my shipping and have never had a problem. Occasionally I will have a package delivered that has to be signed for and I might not be home. I put a note on my gate and my mail lady will sign for me and throw it over the fence at my request. I rarely get stuff that is breakable.
-
Congrats to all that got their packages in a timely manner and undamaged...still amazes me how they can misplace a larger package...>>>----->
Some dark mailroom holds a beautiful bow!
-
Still no bow or refund!
-
Man, I'm sorry to read about a lost bow!!!! I cringe every time I ship a bow, just wondering if it is going to make it to the destination, and get there undamaged! I sure hope you get your refund soon!

I had a bow stolen by a USPS employee. I had sold it to a tradgang member and when I shipped it, the clerk asked what was in the package I was insuring for $1000 I told her a bow. It was a take down widow PLV longbow. I noticed she put it on the floor by her chair, but I didn't think anything about it. in a few days the buyer asked me to check the status because he had not received it. it never showed leaving our usps office. I couldn't get any kinda response from them other than just wait, it will show up. well it did a few weeks later, in a nearby towns archery shop that a friend of mine worked in. apparently the clerk gave it to her son or husband who very surprisingly couldn't shoot a 60 lb left handed longbow, and he took it to the archery shop and traded it for a range finder. my buddy called me, knowing I shoot trad and lefthanded and asked if I was interested in the bow. I had to buy it back for the cost of the range finder then with the help of another tradganger who is a postmaster in Iowa , I filed a claim and started a investigation into it. I payed the buyer back his money. to my knowledge the employee is still working for the usps, my claim paid at a rate determined by the usps and much lower than the $1000 insurance I had paid for. this really left me with a bad taste for the USPS, I have also had packages left out beside our road side mailbox rather than put on the front porch and even had one sitting on top of our mailbox. I had to talk to the post office branch manager about that and I use fed ex now all I can otherwise I will use UPS and have had no issues...we use fed ex exclusively at work because UPS is bad about not paying claims on damaged goods, where fed ex has never given us a problem. Good luck, hopefully the same thing didn't happen to you
