This review is long overdue.
I happily received my new Heartland Pulse from its maker, Cory Engert back in the beginning of October. I have had the opportunity to own and shoot may fine longbow variants and several high end recurve bows since the beginning of my traditional archery experience back in the late 60s and, like many of y'all, have been passionately searching for that "Holy Grail".
Guess I am lucky enough to have stumbled across a trail leading me to Exter Nebraska where I finally got to hold and shoot what I feel is the best combination of performance and quality. Absolutely the sweetest shooting stick I have ever owned.

A great shot of the awesone wood in the riser. I have always loved Osage and this piece is stunning - full of color I have never seen in Osage.

And lastly, Cory's attention to detail escapes my pickiness...flawless fit and finish! Belly glows of the osage radient "gold" in the sun.

Cory is a TG Sponsor. A great guy who aims to please.
-
Tony, I'm glad you like it. I know that I could not be happier with mine. I know we have had a very similar journey looking for the "HOLY GRAIL" of bows.
That is a beautiful piece of Osage, I will have to call him and see if he has any more that nice.
-
Good looking bow! Just checked the website and prices look good. Always been a sucker for forward handle/riser bows.i Like the strung profile also.
-
I own one that looks about the same. Best shooting bow you will find. People who don't know would be amazed at how they shoot. Very quick, smooth and very quiet bows. Cory is a super nice guy also. I will own another one soon.
-
WOW!!that strung up profile is gorgeous. That is one of the best looking bows I've ever seen. Would sure like to get my hands on one of these and take it for a test run.
-
Take a look guys, these are the best shooting bows you will find. Love mine.
-
Beautiful bow!
-
Awesome looking bow! What' the length and what lengths are they available?
-
That is truly a Beauty!

This is the truth. The limb design is very efficient which has allows me to drop to 40# at my 27" draw where I was shooting a tad over 50# over a year ago. Very quiet and a joy to shoot.
I know it is a very popular bow for the guys with long(er)draws. It pulls very linear...does not stack as quickly as many great bows will do. I originally found Cory's Heartland bows on a thread started by a few Tradgangers that have been, for the last few years, buying and selling - almost frantically - in effort to find that that ONE.
I am confident to say there is absolutely no disappointment with a Heartland longbow.

What color is the glass on that bow ... black or dark brown ?
-
A good looking bow that will only get better looking over the years as the osage mellows.
-
Steve,
The glass on the back is black. I hoped for dark brown but Cory did not have a source at the time.
Aging Osage is a recent thing with me. I have a 40# ASL made that is all Osage and am eager to watch it grow old....like me.
-
Nice......I love Osage
-
Thats a looker.
-
Look good
-
Very nice bow and workmanship.
God bless, Steve

I have owned Cory's one-piece and belly-mount longbows. I prefer the one-piece. Cory's bows are wicked-fast, and dead in the hand. And, I love the grip. I started drifting toward longer bows, and sold my one-piece Heartland. Probably a mistake (I've made many.). The person I sold my bow to also thinks it is the best longbow he has ever owned, and like me he has owned many.
Glad you like your bow; it's a beauty.

That would be me Rob. It is one of the finest shooting bows I've owned. I'm so glad you sold that one to me. I've shot many longbows from many makers. This Heartland is here to stay. I think I'm going to order a 60" after the holidays.
-
I'll tell ya, it sure looks as sweet as you say.
You have me thinking on a new bow!
-
Bob, glad to hear that you still like the Heartland I sold you. That is a great bow.

Cory is a top notch bowyer. I have one of his belly mounted 3 piece longbows. When he was building mine he called, texted and sent me pics every step of the bow build. Best experience I'v had with a bowyer.
-
Gentleman, been pretty busy but thank you for the kind words. I know you guys have owned a lot of bows of high quality and it's a privilege to be compared to them.
Tony, man that hedge looks better and better every time I see it. Gonna have to get me some more with that figure.
Cory

Britt, you are right. Cory works very hard to make sure the customer is happy. Cory is talented, honest, and hard-working.
-
Rob (Moots),
Both you and Kevin are the guys I need to thank for this experience. I followed you to Heartland.
-
Back up to the top. Guys, if you want a great bow give Cory a chance, you won't regret it.
-
Nice lookin' stick!

Yup, it doesn't get much better than Cory! Since I live 3 houses down from him and have a small archery range in my back yard I get to try quite a few of his bows. Love the way they shoot and the beauty that he puts into them. He doesn't let one go out the door until he's completely satisfied with it. I own a couple of his bows and still have many other bows but honestly all I shoot anymore are his and a couple of selfbows that I've made myself. As others on here have said the performance is incredible and they're easy on the eyes to boot. Dave

So true, was truly satisfied with the experience with Cory during and after my build. I really enjoy shooting my 3 piece Surge, just came in from tuning up a heavy whitetail/hog arrow and am extremely satisfied with it. She throws the heavy arrow very well and accurately. One of the best for the money out there. Can't resist not posting a pic of her and the beautiful bocote.

Great looking bow! Where do you live exactly in S.C. Upstate, Midlands or Low country? Miss home will be going back.
-
Beautiful bows! Hope you have a lot of luck with it.
-
Cory makes a great bow for sure, I lot my Surge takedown longbow. He is great to work with and a up and coming Bowyer everyone should know about. I meet him at Compton a couple years ago. Top quality and a good guy!
-
Nice looking bow Tony. Cory makes some very beautiful, well built, and "shootable" bows. I was fortunate enough to take a glass bow building workshop from Cory a few years back - still have the bow he (mostly he) and I made. One of my favorites for sure. Cory is definitely top notch.
-
Touched base with Cory today. He is sending me some pics of his Pulse one piece longbow.
-
Shooting my Pulse tomorrow at a 3D shoot. Should be fun. They are great bows. So smoooooooth.
-
Bob, Got any pics of yours?
-
I have one in process and probably in the heat box as I type this. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
