Expectations may run high and even rampant for new bows that feed our traditional thirst.
The bows of today far exceed my needs, yet anticipation and desires to read of, see and experience remain firmly entrenched within my love of the traditional. The eternal flame inspires me to avail myself of every opportunity to delve into the possibility of enjoying a new and enlightening experience.
Anticipation is running high for the unveiling of several masterpieces.
May our gifted and dedicated bowyers birth more creations-of-dreams in 2016.

I expect this to be the first year in 6 that I won't purchase a new bow. It sure is fun though planning for and anticipating a great one!
Two Blacktail Sitkas this year were plenty. Also traded one of my lefties for a RH Widow for my son.
-
I'll know what it will be after the show in Kalamazoo, either a Black Widow PLX or a Dwyer Dauntless, got to shot them both first!
-
Pittsley Predator due in the next 2 weeks or so. 59@31 62" recurve. Charcoal grip with fall brow wedges.
Never shot one. Hoping this is my "holy grail" But who knows!!

I've been working on a new one this week. Just cut out the string nocks and started grinding away on the riser. 64" R/D similar to a 21st Century. Kingwood riser, english yew veneers under clear glass on the back and black glass on the belly. Looks like it's gonna finish around 47# @ 28".
I also have a couple of used Northern Mist Longbows on the way. A Classic and a Superior.
-
A 56" Java Man "Elkheart" for me! High hopes for 2016!!!
-
I am still learning what types are out there, but I anticipate shopping for my first longbow. I still very much love my recurve, but I have been reading the traditional bowhunters handbook and the chapter on Howard Hill has got me wanting to try a longbow.
-
I am constantly going back and forth on what my next build will be..
I am constantly coming up with new build pipe dreams that really do sounds good at the time, and I'm sure that I would enjoy them if i followed through!
But who am I kidding, i'm sure it will end up being another TallTines!
-
I have a Hill Redman due any day now and a couple of JET longbows next week. Who knows what 2016 will bring
-
Placed an order with BigJim for a new Thunder Child.

Funny how that works eh' Mike? :)
-
I have six staves in the shed drying, no telling what I will end up with
-
Was on the phone with Greg yesterday and my slot on the Java Man build list is approaching the top.
Was initially planning on a Helms Deep, but talked myself out of that and into a 2-piece Elk Heart. Dyed curly maple veneers with a cocobolo and phenolic riser.
I need to make myself a new back quiver with a special internal compartment for the limbs. They will be shorter than my arrows :)

Always thought that 50's style recurve of yours looked pretty slick!
Talk yourself into building a new form, I,m betting a pretty sweet bow couldn't be too far out..
-
Put in an order yesterday with BigJim for a new Thunder Child.
Can't wait.
-
Got a Toelke Whip coming hopefully first week of January
-
already got a thanksgiving/xmas toelke whip that I like super much. In 2016 Feb is going to be my JD Berry Morningstar. Man I'm going to have so much headache picking my favourite!
-
The seeping influence and epic nature of Big Jim has evolved into a veritable flood of desire to pursue a coveted choice Thunderchild. My prudence has been betrayed by the captivating and alluring creations imbued by this masterfully skilled bowyer.
-
I've got a new Caribow Featherhorn on order. Looking forward to it although it will be a few months yet
-
I will let you know after the K-Zoo show. I know that I will have to drop poundage.
-
Should have a Super Shrew being built now, and have an order waiting for a Rose Oak Ace. Thinking about sending a deposit in for a Silvertip... IF I don't bust the budget in the classifieds! :archer:
-
The fun is all out of it up here in Canada with a low 70 cent dollar next to yours. Add in the duty at the border and most bow prices end up at 150%.
Being a bear for punishment, however, has me trying to figure out how to fund a Tolke something. Probably a Whip. Or a Pika. Or a Chinook. The only thing I know for sure - it won't be all three!
-
Hopefully my time will be coming up for a Silvertip in a few weeks.
-
Friend,
You will not regret it if you decide to order a Thunderchild.
-
I ordered a Fox Royal Crown a few weeks ago it should be here by the end of March. 58" & 47#@26" bacote/ paduk handle with juniper limbs and elm core. I'm pretty excited about it.

Ya know, just occurred to me yesterday whilst the Missus was tryna pin me down for a straight answer on whether or not I have any more bows incoming in the near future that I have been on the Vintage Works waiting list for a scoshe over a year..
Who knows, maybe have a 64" 59 classic on the way before this year is over!!

This will be the first year since 2010 that I'm planning to buy ZERO bows. In fact, I'm probably going to sell two.
I know exactly what I like now and except for about 8 others I'm keeping, that I just love, I think I'm out of the market....until Blacktail puts up a too-pretty-to-ignore Sitka T2.
-
Picking up my Java Man Elk Heart Thursday evening.
You might see a pic soon after that :biglaugh:
