Bow tuning
« on: January 31, 2016, 04:37:00 PM »
I am trying to tune my left hand Big Jim Thunder Child, 50 at 28 inches, my draw length is 28.5 to 28.75. I am using a 8 strane SBD string.  I started with a full length Gold Tip 400 blemish bare shaft.  The shaft shows weak, with the tail to the right 4 to 5 inches.  I have cut the shaft down to 29 inches and it still showing weak spine.  I have used field point from 100 grain to 300 grain with no change in the tail of the shaft.  Any suggestions?

Look down further in these postings and find one called "arrow advice please."  In fact, I'll take it to the top after I finish writing this.  Read Big Jim's post toward the end of the comments.  Seems very similar to your situation.

I would look at a 340  and start from there. Your form may not allow you to shoot the weaker shaft.

Too stiffffff. Your getting a false reading. Shaft is bouncing off riser and showing weak. You need 500's or 500's or 500s. If that doesn't work, you should try some 500s.

That's my guess anyway.
Good luck, bigjim
