New Pika in the works! Black Beauty
« on: February 05, 2016, 01:02:00 AM »
I made the mistake of veering off the highway today as I was passing through Ronan, MT and swinging into the Toelke's shop.
I really just wanted to shoot a Pika, as I never have. I own a Lynx recurve, have had a couple of Whips and a Chinook, which I traded for an Elkheart.
Well, long story short, I shot a 54" bow bolt Pika that was built up and........I liked it, a lot!!
So, 30 days from now, I'll be able to pick up my new 54", 51#@28", 2 piece bow bolt takedown. I wanted black glass limbs, micarta and bocote riser with a beaver tail wrap. It will definitely be a Black Beauty!!
Ask and ye shall receive. Dan and Jared are great people.
I love my Elkheart, which prompted this whole thing, but I also love to stay true to my Montana bowyers, since I was born and raised here and they build FANTASTIC bows.
I'll post pics once I have it in my hands!!       :)       :archer2:

Sweet, shoot it for a day before reporting back w/pic and try to give a comparison to your Elkheart. Congrats on the new build.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your draw length?  I am 27.5" and was wondering which bow for me. 54 or 56".

Congrats on the order.  The bowbolt is such a nice upgrade.

Thanks! My draw length is right at 28" and it draws very smooth all the way back. Dan said the 54" will draw to either 29 or 29.5" with no problem. He watched me shoot and said I came off the string clean enough that I would have no issues with the 54" and I agree. It just really felt good.

I had Dan build me a 56" Pika, bocote riser and bocote limbs. The bow is 45# at my draw length of
28". Smooth draw and easy to shoot. I like it better than my 62" Whip.

Would love to get another Toelke. If I had the cash I would get the chinook with sheep horn tips Dan currently has in inventory or another takedown whip. I just think overall Dan builds one of the top 3 bows on the planet.

Elk you're gonna love it.  My 54" 52@28 2pc is my new baby. It just hits the limit a hair past my draw which is a smidge over 29.  I am getting every pound out of it without hitting the stackpoint.  I could have gone 56 for an extra measure of smooth but I don't use any overdraw on my anchoring so the 54 is perfect for me. I have been delaying my review just to make sure it's true love and I can say it's such a cool little bow.  I've always loved Toelke bows and owned all the models.  I am done passing them on, should have kept em all.  My Pika is staying on the rack.

I see my new Chinook is waiting for me at the post office!!  Monday at work will be a long day.  Dan said she is purty enough to take to any dance.  Will share some pics when I unwrap her!! I love the look and shape of the Pika, just prefer shooting longer bows.  Will love to see your black beauty Elkchaser!!

Love my Lil Slammer too.  Such a little powerhouse and dead quiet.  I foolishly sold it a couple months after I got it and a year went by and I was able to get it back from fella I sold it to, great reunion!  I need another Chinook actually.  Heck you should keep yours...Pika, Lil Slammer, Chinook that's just a trifecta of awesomeness.

I just got a brand new two piece Pika and drug it through the mud for 3 days of hog hunting.  Couldn't of asked for a more perfect hunting tool.  Was plenty long enough to give this little fella a scratch behind the ear.
