Assenhiemer Contact Info
« on: February 10, 2016, 12:06:00 PM »
My grandfather gave me an Asshehiemer recurve that he had made in the 80's. It is a 64" and 60lbs at 28". I would like to contact Don and see if he has any limbs that are a little shorter and in the 55lb range but I have been unable to find any information on how to contact him. Does anyone have a website, email or business phone for him?

Last I heard back in 2014 due to health issues Don is no longer open for business.

He made a great bow!!!

Heard from a friend that Don is in assisted living now and not in the business. He sure built some great bows.

You may want to post an ad for some different limbs.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Cut them shorter, take some material off both sides evenly, and file in  new string grooves.

Contact the Bow Hospital, a sponsor here.  Discuss it with him.  I wouldn't cut anything off the tips of a recurve but it may be possible to reduce the weight.

I would try to find some for sale or trade before making any alterations.

Dons limbs were all the same length, I believe. He changed length of the bow with different length risers

I have a 62" Assenheimer and it is 19.5" long riser FYI.   Don't remember how mine compared to my dads 64" of Donnies.

Great bows and a great guy, do wish him well!

Correct.. His limbs fit all his risers and limb length is the same. The overall bow length was changed by the length of the riser. Mr. Don and his wife are both in assisted living in Bucyrus, Ohio. I believe his son bought the house and is living there but as far as I know all the inventory was sold in a sale a couple years ago. It's a shame how it all ended with Don's health. He made a great bow and he is a super guy.

Shucks I forgot this is a recurve. Don't cut them shorter, but taking material off the sides will reduce weight. You might be able to find someone to make you another set of limbs.
