FAV Aluminum for 40-45#
« on: February 24, 2016, 08:31:00 AM »
What is your favorite Aluminum Shaft for a 40-45# bow.  I'm drawing 28 1/2.  I'm looking to fit these to an ILF riser with elevated rest.

I have not shot aluminum in quite a while, but i would think 1916 at the high end, and 1816 at the low end. Depends on how the arrow is set up also.

I shoot 43-46# recurve and longbow  using 125 heads lots of alum. would work I keep going to 2016"s as first choice 28.5" long.  2013 will work as well as 1916"s. Head weight, cut to center shelf all add to the equation.

I shoot 1916's from a couple of 43 lb Two Tracks Longwalkers with 250gr. heads.  For whatever reason I find it easier to tune aluminums than carbons by playing with just the point. wt.

+1. Lot's of success with those.  Since you have slightly longer than normal draw length, you might have more success with 1916's, or even 2016's if you want more weight up front.

I'll third the 1916s or 1816s.  With that ILF set up you can tune the bow to the arrow pretty easily.  A little bit, anyway.

2016s out of a Super Kodiak and Sage with 145 grain points and 150 grain Grizzly heads. They fly great. Both around 45# draw weight.
Bear Super Kodiak 50 pounds
Samick Sage takedown 45 pounds
150 gr Grizzly single bevel

I like a heavier arrow so may try to pick up a couple 2016's and go from there.  I do have a plunger for the bow.  That being said I am not really sure how I use it to my advantage other than setting centershot to get the desired flight.
