I'm not really very well informed on decoy use and have never put a Jake in my set.  Better get one before the trip.

Just got a text from my oldest grandson who is already in the hunt area.  He got spotted by a big gobbler without a shot.  Shortly after another one ran right by him full bore but didn't seem to know he was there and ignored the dekes.

The younger boy is set up in a blind but no action.

Sitting on the patio and feel like I'm right there with them.

The ones in the south east corner have been running me ragged trying to get at them in these canyons.

Monterey, I'm no expert but what I do and it's worked when they would come into the dekes is to put hens facing away and Jake facing to me, I want the Tom to strut facing away, fan gives you some blockage from his eyes and his bung hole makes a nice aim point

Thanks, David.  That makes perfect sense.

Got a text this morning at 6AM with a picture of the 13 year old who is on the youth Hunt.  He got a big Tom just after daylight this morning.  No pics because he was required to use a scattergun.  He is wearing a very happy face

Good luck on your Hunt.  What unit did you draw?

Yeah there is good public land opportunity here that I hunt, but I also have permission to wonder across most of the fences out here  :)  not that it has helped me so far this year lol.

Check out this new "moving" turkey decoy.

Looks like it brings a lot of realism to decoying shy turkeys.

No, Never hunted that far north, I'm chasing the gobblers around the Syke's ranch wildlife area.

Been here a few days and they were talking pretty good until yesterday.  Had several up close situations but none that provided a shot

For some reason I have 4G on this ridge so here's a couple pics.  I can see New Mexico from here.   :)

They don't do the country justice.

Sun is going down.  The end of another day in Turkey country.
