New to Shed Hunting in Idaho
« on: March 29, 2016, 09:33:00 PM »
When do the bulls typically shed in the mountain west (Idaho)? I've never gone out with the purpose of shed hunting - more I've just stumbled upon them. I see lots of elk wintering on the south slopes and would assume this is the area they have dropped their sheds... any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just moved to Coeur d alene in October, all the elk I have been seeing are antlerless, i assumed they dropped by now.  could be all cows though.
I have been seeing some whitetails still with antlers. Haven't seen any sheds in the woods.

Yikes! Ticks and mosquitos are my LEAST favorite! It's be one thing if they didn't carry diseases... but THEY DO!

I'd love to get out soon for a rove and shed hunt, but I'm slammed with work and what little time off I want spend with the family...  someday soon!

Was out doing a little road scouting last evening after a stumping session
saw one spike bull with about 15 cows.
Nice white antlers about 2ft long.
