Turkey Gear Show-Off Thread
« on: April 01, 2016, 01:21:00 PM »
Last season I came very close to getting a shot on a big gobbler, I think this is gonna be my season. I was sitting in a natural blind on the front of our wooded property yelping like crazy to a gobbler that was going nuts sounding off at every sorry squeak I made. Never gave me a decent shot through the ferns and saplings at 15ish yards...

Anyway, I'm fired up for our general season in May. Shooting every chance I get while doing all the normal camp stuff including trying to finish the shack before it finishes me.

Let's see or hear about your turkey chasing gear, unique calls, whatever you'd like. I'll get more pics up after the weekend trip to camp where all my stuff is.

Cari-bow Tuktu Ex, 60" 55# at my draw, older green 2018 Easton Gamegetters, 30" BOP, stuffed with styrofoam for noise reduction. I was thinking I'd be playing around some to get them ready but here's my first shot:

Still undecided on broadheads, I don't have a lot of screw-on choices around. VPA's look pretty wicked, hmmmm...

Well, off to camp to dig out my box and pot calls and maybe get organized for once. Good luck this season, and for the guys that can hunt already---jealous!

Nice looking rig!

I've been after them a couple of time without success so far this season, but they have yet to be fired much yet.

I'm using a 60" 55@27" TallTines stickflinger, string tracker, fmj's and Simmons safaris.

Usually hunt the birds out of a pop up blind. Will be using one of Chad Orde's String Trackers for the first time this spring.
Prefer the biggest broad head (Snuffer, Centaur, Simmons) that flies well. I need all the allowance I can get on those small kill zones.
Good hunting!

This will be fun.  We are still a month off.  I have not decided on the bow yet.  I second Simmons heads. I will have one of Chad's string trackers for the second year.  Didn't get to see how it worked last year, hopefully this year.  I found a small cork was essential to keep the string from drifting out and catching on a branch.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Our season opened yesterday, but i was pig hunting, so i have not been yet. I don't have anything special for turkeys. It is the exact same thing i use for nearly everything.

Good luck to everyone!

I saw these paracord turkey toters a couple of years ago and finally remembered to teach myself how to make them. That was this weekend's project. I don't think they turned out too badly for my first attempt.

That green one is awesome.  I really need to learn how to do that.

Those look handy, nice work. I like that blind material, WESTBROOK.
