group etiquette at shoots

I used to do a lot of tournament and 3D shoots.  The basic etiquette was that you did not make groups behind wait.  I would personally not make a group wait 3-5 minutes while I looked for an arrow.  If the shoot was busy with a steady flow, I'd walk behind the target, take a "quick" look of less than 1 minute, and move on.  I'd go back after the shoot if I wanted/needed the arrow and look then.

Generally, 2-3 minutes here,  looking for arrows if there is a group coming up on us.  No group, look a little longer.

We shoot one arrow, unless a miss, then a second arrow is allowed.

Yeah, making peace with slow moving groups before the start of the shoot goes a long way!!

At our 3D shoots, its one arrow per target.

At field archery courses, its 4 arrows per target.

If your friends are shooting more than they should and are missing the target, Then wanting to look for their arrows, I would take issue with that as well.

The unwritten rule is here is one shot per target and several minutes looking for arrows.

Occasionally someone will take a mulligan. I would say average is one per 90 targets per person. But it doesn't reflect in the score.

If your friends do not see things the same way, it may be time to shoot alone or with someone else.

Last year I was at a large trad shoot and we had some guys shooting in front of us.  They were not very good to start with but were shooting from a variety of places (not at the stake) and multiple arrows. (personally they should have worked on getting better at easy shots before they moved back and added obstacles) They would shoot 4 or 5 arrows each and miss with 95 % then spend 20 minutes looking for arrows.  

I was happy to see them having a good time but they were not noticing the back up they were causing.  A little common courtesy goes a long way.

we Walked through and skipped a couple targets and told them to let some groups shoot through.  We were polite with our suggestion since often some people cannot see the world past their nose.
