Any tips for keeping Judo's on busted arrows?
«

I do a lot of roving, and too often the arrow (woodies) breaks right behind the Judo, and the point goes off and disappears. Bothers me more than the broken arrow (I can often re-use those with RepArrows).
I've tried wrapping a small piece of duct tape around the point & shaft, but it doesn't work very well.
Has anyone had good luck with that guide that lets you fit a small nail or such into the shaft as a footing, or shrink tube to hold the point to the shaft?

Thanks guys. Looks like 3Rivers is dropping that item. Guess I'll look at my local hardware first for some shrink tube. Otherwise it's $5.99 shipping for a $1.75 order, and I'm stocked up on everything else right now.

Hummer, I forgot about that option. I'll check out what size aluminum I'd need. Might add more weight than I'd like, but sure worth a try. Shaft might not break at all that way.

I made a jig to drill a 1/8 hole down the center of the shaft. I put a nail in it after tapering and the gluing on the judo.
The other thing I do I'd glue a piece of dental floss in with the judo, and then wrap it around the shaft for about two inches, then glue it there. When the point does break, the shaft still has the string and judo, saving me a few bucks
The jig is now commercially available having my idea taken

Picked up some shrink tube lengths from my local hardware store yesterday, shrunk 'em onto a couple of stumping arrows... I'm sure I'll find out pretty soon if they work!

Shrink tubes work, I shot with a guy at the Muzzy Stump shoot and he broke a bunch of arrows but didn't lose a head.
