lets see some flat bows please!

got the new bow itch and i'm leaning towards a flat bow. I had a Mahaska at one time and it was a GREAT bow. leaning towards a Northern Mist but would love to see some pictures of others as well.

Had a Great Northern  bush bow years ago, sold it and bought a Robertson buffalo bow, another great flatbow, would also imagine  the Northern Mist would be great as well

I have two Northern Mist Sheltons. One is green glass on back and belly with bamboo core. The other is brown back with yew core and clear belly. Both are great bows with good looks, great performance, and they are quiet. Steve makes good bows and is worthy of strong consideration.

I'm not sure you guy are all defining "flat bow" the same.  They generally are thinner in the limbs but wider, like the Buffalo or bush bow mentioned above. I do realize that compared to the historic English longbows, the bows we call "Hill style" were regarded as "flat bows" in the past because they are, well, flat compared to the D cross section of the English bows.  But my understanding is the term in more recent times has referred to the thinner, wide limbed longbows.  Any other thoughts on this terminology?

I think you are right David, thinner and wider limbs. Most are 62-66" in length.

the Shelton is not a flat bow though I do love the Shelton, Steve had made a flat bow called the Huron which I was going to ask him about making again. yes flat bow has much wider limbs. Mahaska makes a really nice one.

I don't have any pic's,my favorite flatbow is m Thunder Mountain Coyote flatbow!It is a sweet bow with it semi reverse handle,points welland forgiving but very fast with a good amount of R/D.

If you get Rob D. on this thread about what is a "flat bow" I'm out! Haha. Kidding of course. I have 2 ASL's, a JD Berry Vixen and a HHA Wesley Special. I call these bows ASL's because they are trapped. That is, if the limb was bisected it would for a "D" or "trapazoid" shape whereas the belly section is narrower than the back side. I consider my McBroom a flatbow as both the belly and the back are equal width. When most people think and refer to flat bows, the best examples I have seen are self bows. Those bows are aggressively wide limbed with limbs measuring (as a guesstimate) 1 1/2"  - 2" or more at the riser. I could be way off, but this is all what my mind catagorizes it all as.

Best bow that I've personally shot that fit the flatbow description, is the Great Northern Bushbow. Awesome bow ! I've owned 3 of them at different lengths & weights. I HIGHLY recommend them

Wow that has wide limbs.   I wonder what the specs and dimensions were.  Oh, if we talking glassed flat limb bows, the Stotler is excellent.
