Shave your chest.
Seriously, if possible, just trim down any loose fabric in the path of the string.

Funny, but correct.   Get rid of all that stuff, you don't need it.  Also, shoot each of your bows with it on.  I screwed up on a gimme javie last spring when the ASL string hit my sleeve and the arrow dropped short.  My RER recurve shot just fine the way it ( was).

Trim it! And the inside of your arm also.

I trim mine low along the left arm and the chest. This is probably one of the best examples for the argument for people to please, please, please... Shoot in what you'll hunt in! If you could possibly have to take a shot with your climbing stand on your back, practice that shot. If you could perhaps have to make a shot turned sideways around a tree, practice it. You found out about this issue the right way at the right time.

I practiced with mine accompanied by my lovely wife and son scissors. It just took a few minutes and she trimmed left arm and chest area plus the hood. I can't stand that stuff in my face.

Practice with it and trim until it's not in the way.

The inside of my left arm and my left chest is pretty bare on mine.

You can literally take off ALL of the stuff on the inside of your bow arm, and most on the portion of your chest that might get impacted.  I have seen a few just cut the whole bow arm off ( I myself won't do that).  Point is...You can trim a bunch without giving yourself away.
