String material and shelf cut matter a lot. I am shooting a Hoyt Buffalo, 51# @28" (my DL is 28") 29 1/2" 400 GT, 212gr total weight up front, and they bare shaft spot on. My string is a D97 with this bow, but I've discovered that with some "skinny" strings, I had to spine my arrows about 5# over to get good results. A journey it is, but interesting.

Good job explaining Jake. I knew somebody could explain better than I could.

my release is the problem with the damscus shooting glove the leather makes me pluck the string causing the bareshaft to drop in flight quicker then the fletched. I ordered tab to try and shoot with i hear alot prefer the tab.

Generally speaking yes but, your eyes can deceive you while it's flying. I have the exact same issue with Damascus gloves. Every now and then it's almost like my fingers are sticky and I can feel them catch. I like a tab much better. But if you like gloves American leathers is the most popular.

im new to it as well. i just copied what the guy did in this black widow video. he was shooting with a cant. I just started with an arrow that was noticeably stiff (very obvious flight to the left at 15yds)

for my own sanity, i added 100gr of weight behind the insert to make sure it showed weak.. it did. very obvious planing to impact right.

then i removed weight until it flew straight.i actually took too much weight off just to make sure it went back to stiff again before settling on a weight.

the video was very helpful to me. good luck!

You will have justified confidence in having acquired a tuned setup when your BH flight matches field point marks from five yards out to at least five yards beyond your effective hunting range.

I shoot wood exclusively, but I always bare-shaft tune exactly the way I normally shoot, with a cant. When I think it's right, I put broadheads on to test it. If the broadheads shoot the same as the bare shaft, you're done.
