Paul Bunyan glass bows?
« on: April 29, 2016, 11:03:00 AM »
I bought 3 Paul Bunyan glass long bows at auction last week.  I actually wanted the 3 dozen wood arrows in the same lot.  I thought these were kids bows until I saw the markings on them.  2 are marked 34# @ 28" the other 40# @28" all are 56" That seems heavy for kids. They are green glass with a brown plastic grip, and a decal of Paul Bunyan.  They seem to be beginner bows at best.  Any information on them?

who says they can't be used as kids bows?

It would all be based on what the draw length of the kid.  I would assume that at around 18" the #34 bow would pull around #15 or so pounds, but i have no idea.

Back in the day..... We had a lot of solid glass bows on the market! I still have my old Ben Pearson longbow, that my Dad bought me! Search "Pop's Bow" for the story.
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

I think those would be great bows for a 10-16 year old. I have a 45# ben pearson fiberglass bow that I like. Tough as nails and can flick and arrow pretty good but expect more hand shock than normal.

I grew up with one of those in my hands.  Yes, at 28" they can be a little stout for the younger set but for "older kids" may be OK if they can handle the weight.  As said, nearly indestructable and a decent shooter for what they are.

The 40 lb. would be great for bowfishing, too!

Put a high performance material string on it,  for even more durability.
