Rebuilt Riser
« on: May 01, 2016, 01:51:00 AM »
A good while back some crazy fat guy was out hunting ground squirrels . Tried to get up and fell on one of my bows. Later that day I found a small crack in the riser. Finished the day shooting with it . Crack staid the same never grew larger. Was a wall hanger for a long while. Last week I decided to try and fix it. Glued the crack up, ran a couple of steel pins in it and refinished it. Strung it up two days ago and shot the snot out of it today and no crack. Time will tell. Renamed it .At any moment   :scared:    Not going to let ant body shoot it but me. I'm pretty confident it's going to be ok.    Crack was just about in the middle of the shelf maybe 3/8"

Wrong picture ? That was the first five shots at a rose at 20+- yards Still shoots good. Here's where the crack was.

Nice repair. I can't even see where the crack was! It looks deadly to coyotes too.

What did you rename it? And don't worry about letting anyone but you shoot it. No one will want to. It's a Widda!

Its one of my Rainyday bows Buy George Perez. I'm going to get another riser for it one of these days. If it dose go I think the crack will open up first to give me a warning.    :knothead:   That what makes it exciting shooting it  you never know.  :rolleyes:I think its going to be ok .For a while any way.

Hey Tim, it can be worse when a fat guy with a mule lands on his bow!! Just wish I'd had a vid of it all so I could see how it actually went!

How is that bow doing? that crack looks much worse than mine. I have four other bows that I can shoot well with and two are my to go bows so I don't have to have this one it was just bugging me. And yes George I really want another riser for these limbs . Got a pretty wild idea for it.

I used it the rest of that year, then built another. Been sitting in the shop since, but thinking about reshaping the limbs a little and trying her again. Has a bit too aggressive reflex to suit me right now , thinking if I slimmed the tips a little it might help her out.
