Black River bows Will Cocke
I have been hearing about Black River Bows and Will Cocke recently, and when I looked them up I realized he only lived 20 minutes from me. Will is a new sponsor here. Will was nice enough to let me try a recurve and a hybrid. The draw on both is super smooth, and the release is dead in the hand. Will has designed a grip that feels different than any I have shot, but he has developed one of the most repeatable grips out there. Your hand falls into the same position every time. The grip on the hybrid had a little thicker neck than the recurve and it felt more comfortable to me but both of them felt really good. Both bows have a flawless finish, and the inlay's are perfectly smooth. The craftsmanship is excellent. At the shot both bows are quick, really quick. The Black River hybrid and recurve were flinging my arrows so quick I thought man that arrow looks like it's flying as fast as my whip and my whip is 65lb's. I was thinking how could I be these Black River bows bare shaft the same as my Whip, but they did. So curiosity got the best of me, and off to the archery shop I go. Bryan at B&B archery in Peal Ms. was nice enough to let me use the Chrono. What I suspected was right Will has produced a high performance bow. The numbers don't lie. At the shot my Whip was a little more quite, but both Black Rivers were plenty quiet. Here are the specs of each bow I was shooting

I know it ain't about the speed but I was both excited and disappointed by the results. I was wondering how can a bow with 12lb's less draw weight shoot the same speed, but after many, many shots the results were the same. Will is making a fantastic bows, and one of the easiest bows to shoot I have ever tried( and that's saying something because I am traditionally challenged) I shot these more accurately than any bow I have ever tried. These are on my short list and you really should consider Wills Black River if you are considering a new one.
