Bodnik Bows? Any one hunt with one?

I am curious about Bodnik Bows slick stick model ,maybe looking to purchase ,I seen that they were dry fire tested 72 times and counting I was impressed  with the 30 year warranty .

I would like to know if anyone has any experiences with the Black Forest longbow from Kustom King.  It is also a Bodnik product, I believe, but there is very little in the way of information or reviews about it.

I had a Bodnik TD Recurve for a short time. Not sure if they intentionally make them negative tiller or if the one I got was a quality issue.  Net, as a split-finger shooter, I couldn't get very good arrow flight or it was so touchy as to be inconsistent.  Sold it after a couple of months of trying to make it work.

In addition, the finish on mine was poor.  Not at all durable.

I bought a 60" 50# slick stick 3-4 months ago. It is a little louder shooting it 3 under like I do but whisper quiet shooting it split finger. It weighs just 17 ounces so if you are used to a little more mass weight it may take you a little while to get used to it. So far I have nothing bad to say about it and for about $300 with a 30 year warranty I couldn't pass it up. It's not the prettiest bow out there but I don't plan to hang it on the wall as a show piece either so that doesn't bother me. I have not had any issues with the finish on mine.

I owned a Bodnik Viper and  a Redman.
I sold both!
My opinion:
In general they are not bad at all but they are not built to It's performance limits and I think that's why they offer a 30 year warranty.You get nothing for nothing and someone or something has to pay for this offer. :-)

I agree with Supbowhunter and also with FlintNSteel

If you buy a Bodnik lower prices bow, you will never look back.
For me the coustom or higher prices bows are not interesting cause of the Money bodnik wants.
You can get a much better bow in the USA for a lower price.
Well, I'm from Germany and I decided to buy my bows in the USA.

I have a slick stick and it is a nice little bow. It would be a good blind bow.

I don't know about their higher priced bows but I don't regret the $307 I spent on my slick stick. It shoots great for me and is pretty quick. Only took me about a week or so to get used to it being so light but other than that it puts the arrow where I look when I do my part. It isn't the prettiest bow out there by a long shot but it does what I bought it for. I have read where people have had trouble tuning them to shoot 3 under and it did take me a while to get mine right but I have only been shooting trad for a little over a year and I am still learning. It is a tad louder than my other 2 longbows shooting it 3U (about the same as my recurve) but just as quiet as the others shooting it split. Hope this helps with your decision.

I bought a Bodnik little stick used a year ago. It's the earlier version of the slick stick same bow only the newer version is different in color. Mines 45# @ 28" 58". I love that little bow. It's extremely quiet and is very fast. I have two different arrows tuned for it. One is gt trad blem 35/55 30 1/4" 2 fletched 5" feathers with 200 gr points and weighs 502gr total and the other is easton aviator 600 31 1/2" 2 fletched 5" feathers with 145gr points and weighs 385gr total. They both shoot like darts and its funny because the much lighter spine and weight arrows are just as quiet as the heavier ones. It's a dream to carry and points well for me. It's very still in the hand as well. I'm shooting a b55 10 strand Flemish string on it. I can't imagine any budget bow being a better shooter as far as a hunting bow or backyard fun bow. The only thing is as already stated its very light. Probably not the best for a target only bow but depending on what your used to may still fit the bill for you.

As I wrote before, buy a  slick stick or quick stick and you will never look back. They are good workers and doing their job really good.

I think for $307 you can't do anything wrong.

I bought the Black Forest longbow when they first came out before the 30 yr, warranty & was very happy with it.
 was my go to bow till I got sick & had my heart surgery, now everything is a lot lighter weight.

I like mine. I ordered direct from Bearpaw in Germany -it's "pseudo-custom.". It is a standard configuration Slick Stick, but built to amo 64" length.  Draw weight is 44#@30" ( built to my request). Very smooth to my 30" draw.  Quick and quiet. I requested it to be tillered for 3-under, and it was.

I recently put a Big Jim's strap on quiver on the 44# Slick Stick, and playing with it on the 3d course.

I have the Cayuga and though I never hunt anything but stumps, I find it to be a really nice piece of bent wood. Pricey, but a good performing bow. See that Trasher had some bad experience with the Redman. I was looking at that bow a while back, but my "bow-pusher" wouldn't recommend it. And he sells bows from Bearpaw. But as said, I really like the Cayuga.
