Going to Georgia in August to look around for a possible relocation of my family.  Very casual, but am interested in hunting wild pigs while there.  I will be there for a week.  Want to hunt most of it.  Can any one recommend a good area?  Not asking for anyone's special spot, just an area to start at.  I am an experienced and ethical hunter and would even enjoy company.  Any help would be appreciated.  I am hoping for two days of looking around and the rest of the time, hunting.  In-laws are putting me up so no need for an expensive hotel or any fancy amenities.  just would love to hunt wild boar.
Thank you for your help.

Well its going to be hot and muggy, look at the Ft Stewart area. If you come after the 15th of August you  can hunt most of the WMA lands which are open to small game hunting at that time.
Most of the hogs are south of the Atlanta area.

Thank you for the info.  I'll look into that area.
Hot and muggy don't bother me too much.  How are the snakes?  Should I get snake proof boots?  How far is that area from Atlanta?

Ft. Stewart area is a good place to hunt. Maybe RC will chime in with some advice. He is the Pig Man of Georgia. I live in the middle of the state and would recommend some area here to live in, unless job requirements dictate the Atlanta area. Ft. Stewart is not too tough a ride to the Ft. Stewart area because of I-20.

As far as snake boots - YES! Do not go in the woods and swamps without them ever. This one is not negotiable.

Also, always use Permethrin spray for tick protection. Thus is as important as snake boots.
