Easton Axis Trads
« on: June 10, 2016, 04:35:00 PM »
Got a set of the Easton Axis Traditionals.  My first time using a HIT system.

Anyone have any opinions on them?

I have no problem with the HIT system, have used it for years on my Beman MFX and Axis arrows.I use the epoxy and tools that come with it to install the inserts to the proper depth. No problems with tuning my Axis either,I simply push in the insert and point with some saran wrap to hold them snug enough for shooting and tuning. You just need a softer target like a bag target that does not grab too tight on arrow removal.Once my tuning is done I then install the inserts.

The toughest arrow I have shot. Foot them with an 1-1/4" of aluminum and you will have to re-fletch them many times, so use cap wraps to make that easier. Enjoy!

Been using Easton Axis  for a number of years. By far my favorite arrows.

Love axis, all I use. The trad finish though can be damaged when your stripping fletching?

Never have that issue with the straight black ones - just ordered another dozen of those.

They are a great arrow, but would recommend two things.

1. Use a footing. 2018 alum shafts work perfectly on axis 400 trads, there are resources to find what fits other shaft sizes. It makes a huge difference in durability.

2. Use hot melt for inserts and footings. Obviously this gives you the flexibility to change things. I have also had a number of arrows that have had bent tips and split footings that I have been able to remove the parts and replace the footing and insert and re-hot melt....it feels good to save an arra like that.

Love them, just don't get too messy with the epoxy when inserting them

i use 2020 as a footing for 400's and 340's. 2018 will fit 300's.

i hot melt the insert and footing just for tuning in case i need to pull it out but i rarely do since i trim the nock end.

sorry just realised your talking about trads. my footings listed are for black shafts. 2018's are probably what's needed for the 400's then.
