Test kit from 3 rivers
« on: October 22, 2007, 06:39:00 PM »
My new Widow will be here on Friday. 54@28. I ordered a test kit for the field tips. They range from 100 Gr to 250 Gr !!!. Which one do I start with? Black Widow is sending me a 2216 tuner shaft.

Thanks in advance

What will happen if I start at the 250 then go to the 100? How will that effect arrow flight?

frasettor,
If you are only hunting deer, then start at your low weight field tips.
If you intend to hunt something a little heavier skinned, then I (my opinion only) would start at around 145 grains, and work up.
I believe that the heaviest tip you can get good arrow flight out of, is the best one you can use.
Once you have found which weight flies best from your bow, then you need to work on tuning your broadheads of that same weight, to get the best flight from them.
You may need to try some different spine weight arrows, too.
