Yassas.I just returned from an amazing trip to Greece. I stayed in my grandfather's village in the Peloponnese region of Greece, town of Achladokampos. The town was known originally as a place that had many pear trees that attracted wild boar! Irony?(many of you know that I'm a hog hunting nut)
I took my cousins out shooting one day. Neither had ever shot a bow. I had packed along my Bear Minuteman, 45#. A bit stout for beginners but that's all I had. Aggeleki took to it like a Greek to olives. She even held at full draw(I've heard that people do that:)
We found some old foam and constructed a "trojan rabbit" to shoot at.
Our range was an acropolis next to a church. It's the first 3000 year old archery range that I've been to.
I need to bring a lighter bow next summer for Michalis. He was game but he was overbowed. He still enjoyed launching flu flus, though. Hope you enjoy the pics and video.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H48OjuTrFq8

But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Awesome, I'm looking to do the same one year when I visit my relatives on an island in Greece. There is a small island near by that has Ibex brought in from Africa years ago when Greece had a King. It was the Kings hunting ground. During WW2 my Uncle used to hunt them at night to provide food for the village. Can I ask how you transported your bow and arrows.

It was no trouble transporting the bow and arrows. I just wrapped the bow riser and limbs in a fleece bow sock and put it in my checked bag. I removed the nocks and tips from the arrows taped them together and put them in the suitcase.

Now is a great time to visit Greece!

I wish someone would get smart and start making the minuteman again, what a brilliant take down system for an economy bow. Does anyone know if there is a limb maker for them?

tarponnut

Bill,
It will be a yearly trip for the rest of my life or until I move there:)

Longtoke: I love my Minuteman. It shoots better than I can and I agree, that t/d system is brilliant. I too, would be interested in after market limbs for it.

Nice video! Cal has a little 20# recurve she has been learning her form on, you should take it with you over there next year for the younger kid to shoot.

Do they have stuff to hunt over there?
