Feedback on Bear hunter takedown
« on: July 11, 2016, 07:22:00 PM »
Guy has one locally, this appears to be a 'plain Jane' model, but nice shape and seems to be a good price. Typical used value and those that have them, what is the good and the bad?

Thanks.

I have purchased two and they are still in the family.
One is left handed and the other right. Originally purchased the left hand for my son and he needed lighter limbs so I purchased a right hand to get the limbs, hard to find. Actually this was the bow that got him into traditional archery.
They are in my opinion a solid bow, nothing fancy but functional.

I paid $150 and $200 respectfully.

Hope this helps you.

I just bought a wood "B" riser, I have A and B mag riser. If I knew how good they were, I would have gotten one a long time ago. I let your father shoot one at the Pine Tree 3/D last Sunday. Other than the physical weight.....he liked it. They do get some good money for them but there are deals to be had.

Yeah Ron, he told me about that one, he did like it.  I don't think this bow is at the same level as he described yours, but the guy only wants 95.00 for it....I of course don't need this bow, but...

The Bear Hunter TD is not in the same class as the Bear TD, not even close. It was designed and marketed to be a low cost TD and it is pretty good at being that. If you can get it at a low price and its in good condition, you will have a sturdy , plane-Jane bow.

Joe is correct...not in the same class as the TD, BUT $95 seems like a pretty good deal if in good shape and a weight you like.

They seldom sell for much over $150-200 from what I've seen.

They're a good bow.  One of the reasons they don't tend to sell for much nowadays is because most seem to have been made in fairly heavy weights. $100 is a good price for one if it's 50# or under and in decent shape.

Thanks for the info guys.  While a good price and probably a good bow, I decided to pass on it.  I would be low on the shooting list and I can probably spend $100 on better toys at this time....

You could have bought it and re-sold it and make a few bucks.

I had one that I bought new in '92 or '93 from Cabela's. I sold it only about 5 years ago.  They're a decent starter type bow. I think $95 is a pretty good price.
