Old Anderson Skookum 66" 60#@28...now 42#@28

Someone asked me to post some pictures of reduced bows. That is hard to do because you can't see what actually is done especially when a lot of weight is removed. Today I worked on an old Anderson Skookum 66" 60#@28 that I haven't shot in Decades! The Skookum is a really nice Hill Style bow and very fast. I took glass off back & belly leaving the tips untouched for 6". That still wasn't enough to get to my target weight 43-40#@28. So I slightly tapered the limbs and traped the belly to finish with 42#@28. I completely sanded the entire bows as it had a lot of old age spider cracks in the finish. Taking that much weight off you have to continually keep checking to see if the bow is in proper tiller. It shoots great for this old man...tippit

I have been shooting one of his bows that I had redone and reduced as well. I didn't get that much weight off but that's okay. I wanted it to stay rather heavy for me. I love shooting it. Nice work.

Tippit, Nice work. What do you do, sand the glass off?
If not, how do you take the glass off without damaging the underlying layers? Likely the better question. :-)

Yes, sand glass thin and sometimes reshape limb profile and/or trap the limb.
