Set up my new blind
« on: August 04, 2016, 01:43:00 PM »
I drew an antelope tag this year. Never hunted them before.  So I buy a blind. I unpack it and take it out to the backyard to set it up. After struggling I get it set up in the wind. Then I take it down and go in the house. Seems I was extremely entertaining to my wife! She still was giggling. This hunting stuff is suppose to be serious!

Took me two hours to get one of my pop-up blinds set up during turkey season this past spring. If I do it right, it takes about 15 seconds.

Ended up taking the thing entirely apart in the field.  Learned a lot putting it back together, including to never take it apart again.   :dunno:

Becoming familiar with your particular setup and anticipated conditions will permit you to leave your anxiety at home and better focus on the hunt.

Best of enjoyment and successs!!!!

Good luck David!  you will learn.  My wife has never seen me in my ghilli.
Please take notes; antelope are starting to come back to huntable numbers in ND and they are on my list as well.

I had about same experience just the other day but at the firehouse. I got it up decent, taking it down?? Not so much -

My firemen had a really good laugh at the expense of the suffering of their Chief!

I think what sent her off the edge into uncontrollable giggling was when the wind kicked up and I had to wrestle with it a little bit. Of course when I got one area to POP open and it almost knocked me out just might of upped the laughing....

At least you got practice In the wind.  Occasionally it will be windy in goat country.   :)
