I have a 54# @ 28" Big Jim Thunderchild and am a little unsure about what size arrow, insert, and point to order. I'm looking at the Goldtip blems and couldn't decide between getting the 400's or the 500's with a 100 g brass insert. Point weight could be between 150-175 g. Any comments or recommendations on this would be helpful. Thanks!

have you emailed big jims? I'd start with the Bowyer. they know their product better than anyone else.. if you want a reply here, most will ask your draw length. 54#@28 don't mean much unless you actually draw 28 which you didn't specify.

I would say go with the 400s, but contact Big Jim and he will let you know for sure.

I Draw 28" and I will be contacting Big Jim. Just wanted to hear some ideas on what would perform best with that set up.

Ky longbow,
I have a TC that's 60# @ 28" and I shoot the GT 400 with 300 grs up front, cut 28" BOP.
In fact, I shoot the same arrow out of my other longbows which range 50-55# draw. Think the 500 would be too weak with the point weight you like.
Hope this helps and enjoy your TC.

Either shaft could be made to work depending on how long you want your arrows to be. 400s would have to be longer and 500s shorter.
Your right there on the bubble...providing your draw is truly 28" and you don't collapse upon release..
Theorising is fine, but you will have to test some to know.
