Help with Easton Axis and JoJan Multi-Fletcher
« on: August 19, 2016, 06:22:00 PM »
Gang,

Does anyone use a JoJan Multi-Fletcher with the Easton Axis 400 shafts? I have one with RW helical clamps and cannot get them to fletch up neatly at all. Their site says the clamp's 11* helical may be too much for some shafts. Anyone got any feedback either way?

I have a Bitz and like it, but I only have one and it takes a while to do a dozen arrows!

I assume you tried moving the bar to see if you could get good feather shaft alinment? I seem to remember using mine but I used only 4" fletch. I may not have such a helical either.

I have had success with both 5"parabolic and shield cut. It is possible so don't give up. There is a sweet spot and you need to find it by inserting a feather in the clamp and with bar moving free, go back and forth looking at the leading and trailing edge to optimize position. If you have not tried Saunders NPV glue, you might try that. It is very good....dries clear...and sets up in 15 minutes. You will end up with plenty of helical....also...line up your rear feather with the same side of each clamp...so if you index off the left side of the clamp, do that and be consistent. I also number each clamp and use that clamp in the same position each time and that ensures a good consistent result. Hope this helps. Chuck

Chuck,

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. It seems as though I can get it pretty close but the back end of the feather seems to hand off a bit or the helical looks goofy. I'll keep playing with it. I am using the Saunders NPV so I am looking forward to that. I was using FT Platinum with wraps before and it was terrible!

It takes a lot to get them lined up. Dont go by the lines that are on the jig it will not work at all. I ran into that problem and i ruined some nice cresting taking the feather off. Line the shaft up with a feather in the clamp and youll find it. On all 4 mine the back adjustment is slightly past center and the front is way past the R marking. Hope this helps. Once I got it set up I can do almost any arrows without readjusting the set up.
