Question for backpack hunters

How are you carrying in one piece bows?  I would like to not have to carry it in my hand but not real sure about how to position it on pack to avoid damaging it in a fall or taking off a heavy pack.

One PC bows are in hand for me. Actually depending on how far I'm going. Usually the 3 PC are in hand too. Out here you could be going to base camp and run into a heard. Last thing I want to do is assemble a bow.

Yep, I carry my strung bow in one hand and a walking stick in the other.

Agree I carry in hand, though I do have the ability to take down this year if needed for packing meat.

This is how I strapped mine to my pack last year.  The bow is actually a 3 piece, I just didn't take it apart.  You do have to be careful when you take your pack off not to set it down on the limb but this was on a pretty long and steep pack in and the ability to have a treking pole in each hand was worth it.

I always carried mine. I put tip protectors on the lower limb because occasionally it turns into a climbing stick .... I shot a nice blacktail once with my big pack on, if I had the bow stowed I would never had the chance.

When in the mountains, it is always in hand.  Morning and evening it is strung, from 10-4 it is unstrung (selfbow), but still in hand.

This may be the most attractive thing about a wheel bow.They are pretty compact and look like they would be very easy to strap to a pack or carry in a Kifaru type rifle sling.
 When I have a long difficult hike I break mine down and stow it

You could get handy and make yourself a bow sling. Mine looks like a stringer, but deeper pockets, a piece of bungee strategically on the stringer will keep the cups on the end.  Frees up hands, but the bow, with quiver is handy
