Grousehaven visit ?
« on: August 31, 2016, 07:13:00 AM »
Guys, I need Your help/advice. I’will go on a trip to NE part of US with my wife this autumn, and I’d like to use this opportunity to visit some Bear related spots.

Of course, Grayling is on my list and I’d like to visit Grousehaven, too. After some “detective" effort :-) I was able to locate this place .. but now, I’m not sure if I may come and visit it (it seems it could be some kind of private land (??) - maybe not - I’m not sure). Honestly, I’m not going to wander there or trouble people there too much .. My idea is just to come, stay for a minute or five, make some photos and leave …

Can anybody here give me some information or advice about ? I appreciate it in advance …

Grayling the town is nice, stop by. But the Bear factory is gone.

Grousehaven ( I don't think it is called Grousehaven anymore) is private land. It is surrounded by public land though, and that area makes for a nice hike.

Roger - Thank You for reply !

ad Grayling - I know factory is gone, but old building is still there (as far as I know) .. then old Fred's house, Den PIzza and Pete Cocefas shop/museum should be nice places to see/visit ..

Yepper the factory is still there.

Also it is worth your time to eat at the Bear's Den pizzeria downtown as it has a bunch of Bear bow's and other neat Bear item's.

Also while in Grayling you might want to stop by  the Roadhouse which used to be the Pines Restaurant where Fred had plenty of meal's and they had some old Bear item's on their walls!

That's only part of the old Factory, the rest was torn down. You can still see the tile from the offices. I think the Bears Den pizzeria has a lot of Bear Archery stuff. There is also some Bear Stuff in a museum at the depot on the north end of main street. Sled Heads in Fredrick use to have a small museum.

The Bears Den Pizzeria has ALMOST one of each model and a ton of arrows and pics. You wont find a 59'er hanging in there.

Sled Heads is where Pete is located. As mentioned half of the Bear factory is gone and what Jeff posted is what you will see. Bears home on the river is behind the factory but privately owned. The Bear museum which was located at Hanson Hills Recreation area is totally gone.
