Went out this evening in search of Muy Grande, or atleast his missus, and came home with a different trophy. I got of work late today but decided to swing over to the lease just in case and settled onto a fork on a mesquite tree about 22yrds from my feeder. There was a steady breeze in my face and the birds were chirping, great sit after a long day at work. At about 7:10 I hear something moving in the brush and strain to make out some little detail to let me know what was making that noise. About 17yrds from my stand I saw something out of the ordinary and honed in on that spot. It was the nose and antler tips of a nice South TX buck poking out from the brush next to a dry creekbed. Heart started racing, sweat started pouring but I forced myself to calm down and not move a muscle. The wind was in my favor, but I think he heard my heart beating cause he did a U-turn and headed back into the brush. That was exciting to say the least. About ten minutes later I heard some hogs grunting and rooting around about 50yrds behind me and I strained to try and see them thru the brush. No such luck, they kept on feeding away from me. Almost dark now and I decided to step off the tree and head back to the pickup, too many snakes around to risk stepping on one at night. Just as I was about to climb down a big coon popped her head out of the grass about 20ft away from me. I looked at her for a minute and decided to give her a try. This bow had never been blooded, by me atleast, and I thought it would help me practice my form. Picked a spot between her shoulder blades, came to full draw, and as soon as the Muzzy Phantom touched my finger, I released. That arrow sailed true, and I pinned her to the ground. She only kicked once after the arrow struck. Thanks you Ed for sending me such a nice bow and maybe next time I can get some pics of a white-tail. Thanks for letting me tell my story and all the tips and pointers you've given me here.
