Do any of you carry a bare shaft to check form?
« on: September 09, 2016, 06:28:00 PM »
Do any of you carry a bare shaft in your 3-d/competition quiver to check your release? I think I'm going to add a bare shaft to my quiver next year to help me check my form throughout the year.

If you've never shot bare shafts, doing so will you tell a lot about your form!

I shoot bare shafts every time I shoot. I mix em in with the fletched shafts. You are spot on ,bare shafts will tell you a lot about your form. Just watch out for windy days

I do the same as mec lineman. Even a perfectly tuned bare shaft will tell on you if your form is lacking in some way.  I also have a compulsive desire to check and recheck tune.  It helps with that also.

Some practice sessions are bareshaft only and have even shot a full 30 3D target round using only a bare shaft.

I have on but I don't carry it with me. Usually pack around 4-5 arrows and they are either bh or blunts

Nope.  However, I shoot one about once a week at home, or if I feel I'm having an off day.

Definitely.

Shooting bareshafts will reveal all form flaws and when my release is crisp and grip is right on along with everything else it feels great watching them fly like darts down range.

They are in my opinion the best trainer to improve your shooting.

Yep. Started this summer after I lost/broke some arrows belonging to a retired Illinois DNR warden. (Sorry about that)

I have found it really does help me develop and maintain consistent form.

:biglaugh:   No big deal on the lost/broken arrows. I think I will try this too.
