Tell me about Weatherby Wool.
« on: September 15, 2016, 03:11:00 PM »
Hey guys,

As the title suggests I'm interested in your opinions on the stuff as well as when it was made from. I just picked up a pair of the 28oz pants and am impressed with the weight and quality. It seems like it will work out very well this winter.

How long did they make these and why did they stop? What are your experiences with it and how do you like it compared to other top brands such as KOM, SI, and Silent Predator?

Lastly I've put an add over in classifieds looking for a medium jacket and vest. Here's hoping some of you boys are living the good life and have outgrown yours.

I purchased a heavy parka type wool coat about ten years ago,and like it quite a bit. I don't know how long they made it or who made it for them, but I have worn it bow hunting a number of times and it works well. I got mine big enough to move in.

I have parka and pants as well.  Impressive stuff.  I did read somewhere that KOM made that for Weatherby.  I will gladly stand corrected if someone knows more about it.

I have a bunch of it, it's not King of the Mountain ( which I have also) but good quality at 1/2 the price back when they sold it. Sleeping Indian made it for them out of slightly cheaper grade wool than thier regular line. My stuff is 10 years old and other than sew a few buttons  on better it is holding up real good.

I have the parka and love the design of the longer tail and how well the hood covers up to the chin when the wind start to really blow. It is 10 years plus old and holding up well, start to use from November on been in some cold snowy conditions with no issues

I've had the jacket and vest for quite a few years and still break them out when the temps start to drop. It's my go-to outer shell because it's always quiet. I had the pants for a couple years but they were too heavy to lug around on my long hikes, so I sold them. Nothing actually "wrong" with them, but along with the jacket and vest, it looked like I was packing in for a week-long hunt. Nice quality clothing. You'll like it.

I had the jacket and pants.  Awesome stuff.  I think they discontinued it because it was too expensive to make for the pennies they were selling it for.  I have so much wool I gave them to a buddy who needed them.  He loves it.
