Tuning

Was trying to bareshaft tune my recurve today and arrows were all impacting bout 8"s to the right of my intended target. Arrows were impacting target straight so didn't appear to be underspined. Haven't tuned this way very much so not sure what would cause this. Any help would be appreciated.

Nick, were you able to pay attention to the flight of the shaft? Sometimes, the shaft can be pulled straight upon impact if the head weight is substantial, or even if the target type makes this prone to happen. Distance from the target can be decisive too. Pay close attention to the nock end in flight, but often another person behind you and slightly below the arrow can plainly see the flight and is very helpful. Or stay close, 10 yards or less, so the arrow cannot recover via point weight fast enough, and it may stick in the target at an angle then.

Might build out your side plate a bit if your right handed.

Shadowhunter, as best I could tell the arrow was coming out of the bow pretty straight and was only shooting about 8 yards. Every arrow was impacting the same spot about 8 "s to the right of aiming point. I'm shooting at a block target also.

When bareshafting, rather than paper tuning, I pay attention to where the shaft is impacting, rather than what angle it is impacting. Fletching will straighten out the flight. If my bareshafts and fletched field points are hitting together on the target, I'm pretty happy with it.

Is this a new set up for you. Could be lotsa things. Brace height, side plate thickness, form.
 I think you'll just have too play around till you find your solution.
 I'd start with a little brace adjustment or heavier fieldpoints, see what happens.
 If I recall arrows hitting right of
target mean a stiff arrow.

I believe, for a right handed shooter, impacting to the right would mean a weak shaft.

It is a brand new setup but have never had arrows impact that far from target before so kinda caught me off guard and hasn't changed even though I've cut about 4"s off shaft. I'm shooting a 53# kwyk styk but I only draw 26" so probably somewhere around 48# and shooting a gold tip blems 3555 shaft
