I have one and did a little shooting before posting so I had some actual data to give you. First off, the workmanship is topnotch, as are all Blacktails. Doubt if anyone would disagree with that statement. It really is, as they say, a purty one.

Mine is 62" and 43# @28" which is my draw length. The grip is, as Blacktail says, a nice transition grip from recurve to longbow. Basically a low grip, stippled with a nice palm swell. I personally like it. Don't have to fiddle around feeling for good position. Smooth out to 28" and beyond.

Speed-wise, it won't set any records but is no slouch. I chronoed it this afternoon with a 29.75" Whitetail Hunter 3050 with 3x4" shield feathers and tipped with a 135gr Eskilite broadhead for a total wgt. of 415 grs. So about 9.5 gpp. Shot at a distance of about 5 ft. and the speeds were in the 164-165 fps range. Don't know what weight you'd be shooting but if it's in the 50# range, I'd say speeds would be in the high 170s.

For reference, I also shot my Centaur 58" 46# @28". Same arrow and the speeds were 174-175 gpp.

Hope this is helpful. If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me. Dave

I ordered one back in June. I had just received my Blacktail Sitka recurve and was planning to order a Black Widow longbow, but after seeing the quality of the Blacktail, I changed my mind. It's my understanding that they are soon to release a takedown model. Not sure if it will a 2 piece or 3 piece.

They are releasing a new take-down longbow soon. And I believe they re-tooled the limbs to perform better  too.

New offerings from Blacktail... COOL!

I'd be really interested in a 3 piece longbow. I LOVE my Schafer 3 piece longbow!
