Congratulations, and welcome to the "traditional way"! Success just feels sweeter.  John Schultz told me in his shop about 40 years ago, "A doe with the bow is better than a buck with a bullet". You did it the hard way, and all bucks are trophies in my opinion.

....I'll go one more, and say any deer is a trophy with trad equipment.  A doe is just as hard to get killed as any buck. That makes all deer by trad bow a trophy in my book. Congrats on a great first!

Congratulations!  Even though you didn't need to, it was right to give the buck some time.  Better safe than sorry.

Congrats!

Regarding the statement that a doe is as hard to get as a buck...You got that right. The buck can do some dome stuff during the rut.

I got a buck this year and he was DUMB. I had a shot at a big buck who was even dumber. I just didn't shoot very well and missed.

Those does seem to be a lot smarter. A doe is what I need now and I can't seem to get the drop on one. LOL

Thanks everyone! I got my first deer with traditional gear last year and my first buck this year. I am definitely hooked on hunting with traditional gear.

It is something you will never forget. I can remember my first traditional bow kill like it was this morning.
