I had a great hunt last night and got some film of it. What occurred to me was the speed everything happened. I had spotted the pigs from quite a distance as they fed along a forest edge and intended to set up camera with a big lense on a tripod about 70 meters from them and stalk in. While doing that everything changed and unknown to me they had decided to head straight my way. With no time to change to wide angle I tried to make the best I could as the sow walked up about 5 meters from me.
At that point she is on to something and the boar follows her into the bush. I quickly decided I had nothing to lose and risking everything with the small boar as it was so close and i was sure he would spook the bigger one. luckily he didn't and I quickly followed them over the hill out of shot just as the big boar was turning away from me. There was a small window where he left his flank exposed from a very steep angle. At 5 meters I knew I could hit that spot and sent an arrow on its way. If you turn up sound, you can hear the bow and smack of the arrow.
If you had of asked me at the time, I would have thought the hunt was many minutes long. was really surprised it was only a minute.
The search took a little bit, black wet forest and no blood trail, but luckliy it was down hill and he left a great set of running tracks. Soon found him piled up about 60 yards from the shot.
