Anybody in Georgia....
« on: December 16, 2016, 03:06:00 PM »
So I'm working on becoming a better archer and was wondering if anyone in the west central/north Georgia/anywhere in Georgia (orAlabama...or Florida or Tennessee or either of the Carolinas) would be interested in helping me work on my form in a bit more of a hands on thing. I can't really afford a real trainer and even if I could everyone I know of in this area shoots compound bows. As well as maybe give me notes on a bow I'm building. It's my first so I don't expect rave reviews but pointers maybe? I'm in Columbus, Georgia but make regular trips to North Carolina and soon to Florida.

Check into Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia. There are members all over the state, so I think you will be able to get some good help close by.

You are somewhere around 50 miles or so from SGPT archery club.  Acronym stands for : South Georgia Primitive , Traditional archery.  They meet  at Ellaville GA at 101 Poole road on the second Saturday of the month starting in January  and continuing through August.  They will help you make a self bow right there, and they have a 3D shoot and a meal too.  Great folks and great fun.  Check it out!
Etter has good advice. You have a guy there in Columbus who is a real expert goes by Timberghost on GON site.

You could come visit me if you are going north to whitewater in NC....I'm right near the Mall of Georgia....off I-85 above Atlanta

I work from home...and always like an excuse to talk bows n arrows.

Just even to get an opinion as to how mine shoots even. I've really only shot a few bows and mostly just my sage so a second opinion would be appreciated.

The biggest thing is just keeping that consistent anchor in the beginning. I didnt do that and it started me on the long path to target panic. If you dont come to full draw, do not ever shoot the arrow
