Limbsations Questions???

I have a takedown longbow that is my favorite goto hunting bow. It has developed a bunch of what look like air pockets under the clear glass which make the limbs look horrible. I'm not worried about the integrity of the limbs, but it kills me that it looks like it does, so I'm looking for a fix.

I have heard about the Limbsations by Onestringer, but have never seen them in person. Can any of you guys that have used them on your bows give me some insight as to how good they look. Do they look good, and real, or do they look like cheesy stickers put on a bow???

Any insight, and pics from those that have them would be helpful.

I have used the canebrake snake skin. They looked good on the limbs I put them on and some people asked if they were real. The giveaway was the trim job I did and the very edge had a really thin white line where i cut them.

I would use them again. Hope this helps.

I've used them Bisch - they serve a purpose.  They do not look like the real thing, but they do look good.  The biggest downfall to them is the edge that gives that "sticker" look.  They adhere well, wear great, and look good in my opinion.

I dunno.  Though the limb savers will work fine, might want to keep an eye on it.  Those air pockets could mean something.  Might be an indication of glue starvation.  Get enough of them lined up properly, and the glass could separate from the underlying lamination.

I put some asat camo limbstation on a recurve i use for stalking African game: actually more to protect the limbs against thorn bush and heavy namibian sun on the black carbon limbs.

I might just get a set and try them out. Maybe a little Old English funiture repair polish along the edges would cover up/hide that white stripe along the edge???

Bisch, is there any chance it is just in the finish? You might try sanding a spot with 600 grit wet or dry paper. It won't hurt the bow or do much more than dull the finish. Certainly won't cut through the glass. Good idea to darken the edges of the Limsations. I have used it to give old antlers a little fresher look.   Ken

I think you would be pleased with them; and lots of choice for pattern/colors.  Not to mention that they are easy to install, AND can be removed easily if you want to change out.The snake skins look good and have a nice feel to them. I have bows with both real, and Limbsations, and personally I'll not do real skins again.

I've used them and thought they were worth it....could easily be mistaken for real until close up inspection

As noted above, I would question the soundness of those limbs. Having limbs fail at full draw is no fun. Ask Dragon-rider next time you see him.

I have had limbs fail before, and I am not worried about that aspect here. That is ewhy I noted that in my original post, so that we would hopefully not go down that fork of the road, away from where I was intending to go. I am not worried about the limbs, just want to cover up the ugliness, and was trying to find out if these would be a good option from those that have used them.

Over the years I've done 5 or 6 bows with them and really like them,Onestringer is first class and fully stand behind there products.I think they look real good.You won't be dissapionted.I use alittle leather dye on the edges,just wipe it on with a cloth or a small paint brush.

I wanted to install mine in a W&W XQ1 pair of ILF limbs but the limbsations i have (from a giveaway by Charlie Jansenn) was not wide enough for the limbs. I eventually installed them on my Border Harrier longbow.
My suggestion is to check the width of your limbs and check the stock width of limbsations.  You can custom order them to the width you need.
