So I've been trying to get back into the trad world for a few months now. Life hasn't really been cooperating, as usual. But as I posted here asking various things about arrow setup, a great gentleman here stepped in and kind of gave me a nudge. He was incredibly generous in sending me the components to make a half dozen POC arrows. My first wood arrows and the first arrows I've had that actually matched my bow. He also sent 3 completed arrows so I would have something to shoot while working on the raw shafts. He even loaned a fletching jig! So, a huge thanks to Deno. I'd still be arrowless without his generosity. The willingness of people to help newcomers here is incredible.
Anyhow, here's how they ended up. I used a torch to do the super simple flame camo, followed by 5 cotes of Minwax Polycrylic water based, brushed on, lightly sanded with 400 grit between coats. Orange barred cock feathers with white hens (actually love this combo). They fly extremely well out of my early Hummingbird, and I'm amazed at how quiet the combo is. I know most of you guys have made thousands of sets of arrows, but I'm thrilled with my first set and think I'm hooked on wood for a while. Again, thanks to Deno and the tradgang generosity!
