With the search for a new 3 D target, I have all but given on being able to afford them this side of winning the lottery.

I am going to go a different route and will just put a 2d on a hay bale (going to check out the compressed bales from Tractor Supply per peoples suggestions here) and will buy several different 2D targets to let me shoot at different animals, distances in preparation for 3D season.

Anyone here sell them?

I'm also interested in getting some to set up a cheaper backyard range.

They are not sponsors but Dink's Feather Shop sells foam 2-D targets. If you buy some the arrows can be tough to pull out so what I did was use wire ties to make two loops through the back and slip them over two pegs in the ground. I would pull the target from the pegs, put on the ground and hold it with my foot to remove the arrows. Then just slip it back on the pegs.

I miss the old Pottinger and Perrine targets.  Back when 3D was really 2D.  The targets were much more affordable for the average Joe.

I have a javelins from dunks that I've named "turbopig". I'll second the arrows being tough to pull, but that target has held up really well. I think for some variety their targets are nice, even if they aren't the most photorealistic representation of an animal. I'd especially like to get a few small game like rabbits, groundhogs, and squirrels from them. I think sticking a doqel or old, broken piece of arrow through the base to prop them up and then some blunts to make em last even longer and that's some good backyard fun! My daughter's suction tip arrows even stick to turbopig!

Have you personally shot them? I looked at them and it looked like it was straight foam.  Is that the case?

Check these out!  Supposedly very durable and long lasting.  Going to pick up one or two myself.

When I was at ETAR I saw big Jim had something like 1-1/2-2" thick rubber animals didn't spent a ton of time looking at them but wish I had. Might be worth a call.

I have 3 of those.  The only problem with them is the ones I have are all small targets.  Largest one being a possum.  They do hold up great though!  I would really love some with actual scoring rings on them.

Daniel,

I went a different route when I set up a home range.  I made rolled carpet targets with head and tail cutouts.  They have been out in my wood lot for several years now.

I have maybe $150 invested. Used scrap carpet and bought hardy board for the cutouts.
