Took two trips to Quebec after Caribou. The first trip in '99 there were 9 of us that traveled up together. Saw a few Caribou and if memory serves me correctly there were 10 Caribou that made the trip back to Indiana...none were mine though. Even though I came home without an animal, it was probably the best trip I have ever been on. Good friends, comradery, fresh fish for supper and the Northern Lights at night!
Three of us from the trip in '99 booked for 2003. We ended up in a large base type camp that housed 20 hunters in all. I wasn't sure how that was going to work out with that many hunters, but we hit the "migration" and it was crazy. I had killed out by day 3 and could've killed out on the first day, but with that many Caribou I was being fairly picky. We saw hundreds of Caribou each day and I had over 1000 come through on the day I killed out.
Things are much different in Quebec now and those days are over. I feel blessed to have had the chance to hunt for Quebec/Labrador Caribou and to stomp around in that beautiful country and to have been fortunate enough to kill two nice bulls.
