Nock insert advice for carbon arrows

Hi all,

I've got myself some Black Eagle Vintage and Outlaw shafts to try, and was wondering what you all are preferring for nocks and inserts? I've only used carbons with the standard push in nocks that come with the shafts. Any advantages to using nock adapters or pin nocks etc?

I think that is there .245 shaft? In that case the three rivers adapters for glue in nock should work. I recently stop using carbon arrow factory nocks in lieu of glue on classic nock. Factory nocks are too tight and require a small serving and make sore fingers. Classic glue on nocks = fatter serving = ahhh comfort.
I use about 62 lbs draw wt.

I use the nock inserts and Bohning Classes Index Nocks. That makes a pretty tough nock end for a carbon arrow.

Three Rivers sells the nock inserts.

I have made up a doz. GT Trads using the nock insert and Bohning Classic nocks. My thought is the nock insert might strengthen that part of the arrow. Maybe keep the nock end of shaft from splitting if a hard hit occurs. Besides I like the nock colors offered in glue on nocks.

I like the classic nocks but I don't want the extra weight.

I like to use the ink bushngs with my gold tip arrows. It allows me to use a small G nock which helps with pinch and the bushing prevents tubing of arrows.

Hey Tedd, yep those shafts are 0.245". Are you using the Bohning Classic nocks? How are you liking those Rampage shafts? I've been eyeing out the x-impact shafts, nice and skinny with a decent gpi to get the FOC up. Just wonder how durable these light skinny shafts are.

I don't want to step on any toes but I have had a ton of bohning classic nocks break upon releasing the string. I had it happen this fall while shooting a new custom widow. I would stick with push in nocks.

I still like those Black Eagle shafts. Except that their .300 spine is stiffer than other .300s and I get too heavy of an arrow when i get them tuned. I want to by the Balck Eagle .350 but I think they will probaby be too weak.

Possibly your glue made them brittle? Fletchtight or Duco works.
