First longbow
« on: February 26, 2017, 09:41:00 PM »

Hello all I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I have messed with a recurve for several years and although I enjoyed shooting it just didn't fully catch the bug until recently. I started looking into bow blanks that I could finish myself. That's when I found Mike Ballenger of 7Lakes.
I researched everything I could and decided to give him a call to discuss what I had in mind. After him and I talked for a good while it was decided that he would build me a 66" 50@29 Longnight. It is a Curly Maple riser with flat cut Cherry limbs with Maple cores under clear glass. Had a moon accent strip in the riser also out of Cherry.
I fit the limb tips with buffalo horn and will be using a Cedar/Mountain berry Ff string. It's still in the finishing stage but I'm excited about how it's going turn out if I do my part. Anyways thanks for looking and giving me some great reading material to use and learn from.
