Yesterday morning was frosty and clear with a perfect wind for me to hunt a stand behind my house before work. The 1/2 moon was bright enough that I choose to forego using any light to get to my stand. I slowly made my way to the stand dragging a Doe in Estrus soaked rag. When I got 30 yds in front of my stand I made an angled approach to it with the drag rag walking around a small log 25 yds. in front of my stand and then placing the rag 10 yds. in front. I climbed up quietly for my vigil. The bright moon had things lit up pretty good and I noticed how it made a particular leaf look almost white near that log I had walked around. When shooting light finally arrived I stood and at 8 A.M. I glanced at that "leaf" again and it suddenly stood up! I immeadiately saw horns and checked to make sure I had the 4 points on one antler as required and then got ready. He stretched, urinated and then turned towards me and started working over a scrape that I had walked through without noticing. He then came on towards me and at 13 yds. I put an arrow thru him. He had let me walk within 10 ft. of him when I went in and then stayed out until he got up at 8. I'm hunting in red pines and there is not one drop of underbrush at all, it looks like a park there. Pretty cool! I'll try the pic thing later.
