Anyone tried before? I just did a test run with a few it dries very fast. Looking to see how they hold up.

I do sometimes on small game arrows. It looks good to, but it is not as tough as most finishes.

Shellac works best as a sanding sealer. For an arrow it would take multiple coats and still wouldn't be very durable.

I use it as BAK says like a coat or two as a quick sealer. Then tru oil.

I tried shellac on my wooden snowshoes. Worked terribly. wore right off. I wouldn't use it on arrows. I'm very content with tung oil; I'm sure some other wipe on finishes work well also.

Shellac is not an outdoor finish. It would not be a good option for arrows. When I shot wood I liked spar poly...I'd thin it about 20% with mineral spirits and wipe it on. 2-3 coats were good.

Shellac is at the very bottom of the list of finishes for waterproofness. The Russians finished rifle stocks with it and it peeled and flaked off after some usage.
