DIY - Gadget Adapter
« on: March 29, 2017, 10:11:00 PM »
I recently acquired a HIPS blind from a good friend and I needed a gadget adapter to make it work out.  I didn't want to wait for one to come in, and i am definitely a DIY type of guy any way, I mean, who isn't?

A quick trip to a local ACE Hardware to pick up a 5/16 x 24 coupling and I was ready for action.

Then the hard part.. what do I mount it to?

I went to some scrap wood we had and after testing a few different things, I settled on a 2x2 piece of wood that I cut about 4" long.

After I got it cut, just to add to the sex appeal, I added a really fancy(haha) angle cutting back towards the coupling, drilled a 1/2" hole in the center and then inserted the coupling.

You'll definitely see how fancy and precise I am with this pic..

After I sent a picture to a friend, he replied, "that's hideous".  haha. So I took the time to add some really good looking leather work to it:

After the glue dried, I then had to come up with some mounting hardware..

I decided on some nails and a bicycle inter tube.

Here is it mounted up:

Over all, It will serve it's purpose in function, but leaves A LOT to be desired in the craftsmanship category.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Side note:

It doesn't work very well on HOPE, but on my 1 piece bows it works GREAT!

Cool. I may have to make one for attaching my string tracker. Thanks for the idea.

that's a big problem with this bow.  But on my one piece, it doesn't have the limbs to go around, so it works perfect!

I may be missing something, but what is the purpose behind this device?

Hideous is a great description!!!

As long as it is cheap and functional though, I don't guess it matters much!

Look up HIP blind. That'll explain what's it's for.

My Widow recurve was a surprise gift from my dad.  Now I'm glad he had a stabilizer mount installed when they built it!

But I've got to hand it to you, that DIY adapter is energy well spent if it works for you!
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.
