Yeah I know it sounds a little weird-me not knowing what type of wood it is. I met Gail and Dan at the P&Y convention in PA and of course the topic of bows & wood came up. I sent them a few peices of osage and Gail asked Martin's bowyer to make up the bow for me.
It's a direct copy of The Stick, except the limbs are VA osage. It also has graphite tip overlays and the nice looking handle, whatever it is. 50# @ 28" I draw 29 1/2 so that's enough for me! Gail and Dan are great guys and I can't thank them enough for this gift. I asked for the stick model because I think it's more "old school".
Israel, the painting is an original by a now deceased local artist from VA's Shenandoah Valley named John Chumley. I guess he was a fairly accomplished artist. We purchased part of his estate from his widow and again the conversation about bowhunting came up. I guess most of the Chumley fans didn't really connect with the subject matter of this piece, so it's now on the wall in the Den of Death
His widow says her son harvested his first deer, and the father was so taken by the visual of the deer hanging in the old mill that he painted this.
