Lake Placid Archery

I'm going to Lake Placid in June to do the family vacation thing. Does anybody know of a traditional club in that area where a fella might escape the in-laws for a while and fling some arrows?

Don't think so, John. I lived near Placid (and worked there for a while) until around 15 years ago... there was no trad group I had heard of. Tupper Lake is about 1/2 hour away, and there is a Tupper Lake Bowmen, or something like that, club. I don't know if it's a trad group or not, but that would be your most likely place to start. Might want to search a bit and see if you find anything.

There is tons of state land up there to go stumping on. So bring your bow for and escape with some beautiful views.

we have a couple of active archery clubs with strong traditional membership in upstate NY. If you want to talk I can set you up with them, they are a great group of shooters. My home club is further north and we shoot every weekend. Also the Tupper Lake rod and gun club has a Muzzy shoot on June 2 & 3.

Thanks for the responses. I might remember my way around there. I went to Paul Smiths back in '73-75.I will certainly bring a bow. I'll check Tupper Lake or just walk the woods.

Well I just made the mistake today of mentioning my Tradgang intentions to my wife. It did not go over well.I'm still bringing a bow with me. Actually she is a little upset cause I'm leaving early to go to the Meadville trad. shoot in Pa. I'll see. Maybe she can go shopping with her sister and I can bust out.

I do appreciate the offer Jerry, but right now it looks like a trip that far north would take a lot of time. She never complains when I'm gone just about every weekend to play outdoors. But like I said; I'm still bringing my bow.

When we are in that area, we visit Tupper Lake Archers. They have a wonderful club, and great people. Good luck.
